Is the professional tennis circuit men slow the game? If so HOW?
women's tennis has always been popular ... but exploded in the '90s, largely due to boredom of the game of men. The problem: the game of the men was very fast-points earned by the service too (Usually without absolute return) or the quick turnaround. This is how Sampras broke the record for career Grand Slam-winning groundstrokes were half pro (never had to use them). Even Agassi said, its very hard to return a ball hit 130 in the corners. This was a big problem then. What did they do? What happened? I heard they were thinking about banning certain rackets then I heard that reduced the pressure on the balls ... alllowing to serve velocity, damping speed when it bounces. Is this true? Think about this: why are events now? whereas before it was served - on item ...
There are several reasons for men the game has slowed down. 1) BALL - They have experimented with different feeling in the balls, the less pressure the ball and even more balls (which was promptly vetoed by the players) 2) COURT OF THE SURFACE - From Wimbledon to the U.S. Open, the courts are not the same as past-year (if it is a word). The new grass at Wimbledon has plummeted down the original surface, as well as allowing more true bounces! 3) RETURNS - service returns have improved dramatically in recent years. Something had to happen with services and serve a huge boom - return loss - a point more. The players had to shorten their swings from one side and use the pace of servers (obviously racquet technology has also contributed string) if they wanted to earn money to put food on the table! The return has proven to be a great weapon in the game today, thus neutralizing the serve and volley player.
